#Tip Personalise your Cybook screensaver!

Know your Cybook: the cover of the book you’re reading, one of the pictures that come pre-installed in your Cybook, or why not the portrait of your T-Rex / budgie / kitten? Did you know? You can personsalise the screensaver of your Cybook!

The default screensavers

Your Cybook comes with pre-installed screensavers evoking authors or literary classics. As long as you haven’t changed any settings, those are the images you’ll see when your Cybook is in sleep mode. My personal favourite is the whale, diving into the ocean of books contained in my Cybook. 🙂

If you like those pictures, just select the default screensavers:
from the Home screen, Menu > Advanced > Sleep Mode > Screensaver > Default Screensavers

The cover of your book

Do you need a little reminder of which book you’re reading at the moment when you pick it up? (Don’t judge. Some of us like to read more than one book at a time and it gets complicated. Ahem.) Or maybe you think your book’s cover is too gorgeous and it makes you happy every time you see it. (like the saying goes, “a good book cover is a thing of beauty and a joy forever“. Or something like that.) Either way, definitely choose your current read as your screensaver:

Home screen, Menu > Advanced > Sleep Mode > Screensaver > Current read

Do you harbour a pure and undying love for one specific book cover above all others? Want the world to know your heart beats for your favourite title? Alternately, do you figure it’s nobody’s business what you’re actually reading and a bit of camouflage wouldn’t go amiss? (No Judgement II, The Return: #RightToPrivacy) We’ve got you covered (literally 😉 #IllGetMeCoat):

Home screen, Menu > Advanced > Sleep Mode > Screensaver > Library Element

then select the cover of your choice.

The portrait of your T-Rex / budgie / kitten

Take advantage of your Cybook’s down time to show off the tender smile of your beloved T-Rex, a photo from your last holiday, a kitten reading a book you found on the internetz, or whatever picture you like, really.

Cybook Muse: so thin and light even the tiny arms of a T-Rex can hold it

You can use any picture you want as a screensaver. For best results, choose an image in portrait mode (taller than it is wide) in jpg, png, or gif format. The ideal size is 758px x 1024px.

Have you seen the special edition screensavers we share here from time to time? 🙂 Like the Reading Survival Kit and the exclusive screensaver drawn by Valérian Chasserio!

Some inspired bookeeners have created their own screensavers and shared them with us (we love that ❤ !). We’ve collected them all in a handy Pinterest board for you. Find all the Cybook screensavers here and download the ones you’re missing. 🙂

Add a screensaver to your Cybook

Add a picture to your Cybook and use it as your screensaver? Child’s play. Here’s what to do:

  • Download the picture to your computer.
  • Plug your Cybook into your computer with the USB cable, add the picture to the “Pictures” folder, then unplug your ereader.
  • On your Cybook, open the Images folder in your Library and select the picture with a long press. In the pop-up menu, choose “Use as screensaver” and you’re set!

Alternate method:

  • Download the picture to your computer.
  • Plug your Cybook into your computer with the USB cable, add the picture to the “Pictures” folder, then unplug your ereader.
  • On the home screen of your Cybook, press the central button, then select Menu > Advanced > Sleep Mode > Screensaver > Library Element.
  • Select the picture from the list and you’re done!

What’s your screensaver? If you’ve got a personalised one send us a photo on twitter or facebook, we’d love to see it!

  1. Great feature would be choosing few screensavers and than they would change randomly, something like those pre-installed but customizable (you can use any picture you like) 😉
