  1. Any chance of posting the Orizon user manual soon? It’s a good way for potential buyers to understand all the functions, and for Bookeen to communicate them.

    Thanks.

    1. Hi Eric,
thanks for your message. I’ve inquired about the manuals, we will definitely post them as soon as possible, excellent suggestion! Currently the manual has not been translated into all languages, however the QuickStart guide should be available very soon. I will post the information here as soon as it’s available.

    1. Hello Raita,
thanks for your message. We will announce as soon as the release date is official. You can definitely read in Japanese. From our FAQ: “All the left to right languages are supported by the Cybook. You can read Greek, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese languages… There is an automated character set recognition for EPUB, TXT, HTML and FB2 formats.”
I hope this answers your question!

  2. Hi,

Is there a way to test your device in Brussels? I am in search of a good e-reader, but a bit afraid that 6′ would be too small for me as I’m used to read fast.
I’ve seen other models on sale in Fnac, but the expo models aren’t working, having just “demo” sticker with text on them. Would you mind negociating that your devices could be tested in real?

    Thanks,

    1. Hello Margo,
Unfortunately there is not much we can do about how our devices are displayed in individual shops, however I will definitely pass this information along to our sales manager and see if he can have a word with them. You might be able to convince one of the salespeople at the Fnac to make sure a device is charged and available for demo, if you ask them with a smile. 😉 If this is not possible, you may want to see if you can organise a meetup in a café or other public place with another Cybook owner who is willing to give you a demo. Feel free to suggest this on our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/Bookeen or you can try it on the mobileread.com forums. Good luck!

    2. Hello again Margo,
I just had a thought, when you said in the fnac the expo models have “demo sticker with text on them” do you mean there is text on the screen like a page of a book / an image ? If yes, that is not a sticker, it’s the real screen! 🙂 That’s the beauty of electronic ink; it really looks close to a printed page. If the store has not charged the batteries, the screen can still display text or an image because power is only necessary to *change* the display, not to maintain it. So it’s possible to have some text on the screen but not be able to turn pages because the battery is empty. We never put stickers on our screens; we rather let the real screen speak for itself. 🙂 I hope you can find a demo model which has been recharged, so you can see how it works for yourself.

  3. Hi
Just bought the Orizon, and I am very pleased 🙂

One question: the USB cable is used to charge the battery, and it says in the manual that you can buy a power adapter to charge the orizon directly without a computer. (I dont have a computer when i travel).

I have such a USB power adaptor that came with my sony ericsson mobile phone. Can I just use this adapter with the orizon too, or do I have to buy a special one that is better suited for the special orizon battery?

    1. Hello Øystein,
thanks for your message. We’re very glad to know you are happy with your Cybook Orizon. 🙂

You can charge the Orizon from a wall plug using any power adapter, as long as the characteristics match. Here is the information from our FAQ about compatible power adapters:
      Input: AC100-240V 50/60Hz
      Output: DC5.0V +/- 5%
      Max: 700mA Min 150mA
If your Sony Ericsson adapter has the same characteristics, then you can use it with no trouble for your Cybook. If not, we sell an appropriate adapter in our store: http://www.bookeen.com/store/europe/accessories/chargers.html

    1. Hello Dr. Mándoki Tamás,
thanks for your message! We’re very happy to know you love your Gen3, and are interested in the Orizon.
      To answer your questions,
      – Hungarian language: yes, the Orizon interface is available in Hungarian, to set this option, choose “Language” from the “Settings” menu on the home screen.
      – notes and highlight functions are coming very soon via an upgrade (within 2 weeks).
      – you can download the manual in several languages (not Hungarian currently, however, I’m sorry!) on our website in Support > Download > Manual. You will need to log in to your account to do this. Creating an account if you don’t have one is free and will only take you a minute.
I hope this helps you! Have a nice day.

  5. Hi there,

A question about ‘djvu’ format documents.

As a lot of scanned books seem to come in the ‘djvu’ format and it’s also much more space efficient (and searchable!) than pdf, it would be nice to see native support for this format on the Orizon.

It is a shame if one must convert to pdf, which is larger and looses the search functionality.

Any chance this is going to happen?

    Thanks,

    E.

    1. Hello E. R. Eader,
thanks for your message. We don’t have any plans to support djvu format at this time, that I know of. Formats such as djvu and pdf are not optimal for reading on ebook readers because they can’t be easily adapted to the size of the screen. We recommend using the epub format instead, which is a reflowable format allowing much more flexibility while still maintaining the layout.
I hope this answers your question.
      Best regards,
      Bookeen Team
