New Partnership with Saraiva, Brazil

As part of a strategy to attend client´s needs with a complete service which allows customers to read digital books at any time and place and easily acquire new titles online – from Brazilian and foreign authors -, Saraiva is launching today Saraiva Lev and Saraiva Lev com Luz, a line of e-readers designed for the best reading experience. The Saraiva Lev range represents the first e-readers connected to the Saraiva apps eco-system and its embedded e-book store. It will provide numerous innovations attached to the ebook shop management.

Bookeen and Saraiva teams worked months to provide this full digital content solution with great e-readers. Both e-readers offer HD E Ink® displays and a fast new interface.

This announcement further strengthens Bookeen’s international strategy focused on delivering eReading on a global basis in combination with a strong content management. In late 2013 Bookeen already announced partnerships with Carrefour featuring its Nolim line and the retail chain Relay.

Bookeen completes its product range by offering a brand new tablet in partnership with RELAY

Bookeen offers a new solution for ereading: the new Cybook Tablet is specifically designed for readers of digital editions of magazines and newspapers and completes its partnership with Relay.

Due to the fact that in recent years the number of people who read magazines and newspapers on tablets has increased substantially, Bookeen has decided to launch the Cybook Odyssey tablet in partnership with Relay which has over 550 shops based in the metro, railway stations and airports in France.

The Cybook Tablet is priced at 159,90€ with a gift of 10 magazines in digital format per month during 3 months. This new tablet features a 7” IPS high definition and Multi-Touch screen, an ultra powerful quad-core processor Nvidia Tegra, an extension Micro SDHC, integrated Wi-Fi and a GPS. This easily transportable Android tablet gives users access to the best applications and services which Google has to offer: Google Maps, Gmail, Google Chrome, Google+, YouTube and Google Play.

For people who prefer to read their favourite books on an e-reader which is specially developed for reading in all light conditions, Bookeen still offers its clients the Cybook Odyssey HD FrontLight at 129,90€. For both products, Bookeen provides Relay with a white label eBook store solution which enables Relay to modify the editorial content. The interface of the eBook store solution is designed using Relay branding.

2011: The Cybook Odyssey

Bookeen Story: Chapter 5

2011 brings two revolutions for Bookeen: the arrival of the Cybook Odyssey, and strong partnerships with major European bookstore chains.

After the nomadic Opus and the slim and elegant Orizon, the Odyssey is the result of several years of research to accelerate the migration of the electronic ink in the screen. This exclusive technology provides a responsiveness and speed previously impossible on an e-ink screen.

In February 2011, for the first time, Bookeen demonstrates video playback on an e-ink screen, then in May a new video demonstrates scrolling in real-time, opening new possibilities for touch-screen navigation. These two demonstrations soar to the top of E-Ink Infos “Best of 2011” list, more often occupied by US companies.

In November 2011, the Cybook Odyssey is launched. Bookeen’s HSIS (High Speed Ink System) technology makes it extremely rapid, as shown by the animated covers when you open a book, or the scrolling menus. Dictionary look-up is implemented shortly after launch, with a selection of dictionaries.

With its compact design, its touch-screen interface as well as physical buttons, the Cybook Odyssey is a holiday best-seller.

2011 also marks the beginning of new partnerships: with Virgin in France, and an Odyssey branded with the famous capital V, as well as a significant partnership in Italy with La Feltrinelli. These are the beginnings of a new model which will fully develop in 2012, in which Bookeen provides an innovative technical solution to major European booksellers, capable of managing the on-board bookstores of all our clients.
