Cybook Odyssey: Dictionary Feedback

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

Following up on the dictionary beta tests, we would like to thank you very much for the rich feedback we received. We know you’re all very interested to know about future development, so we wanted to share some information with you about our plans.

Based on your feedback, we have already scheduled the following for future firmware updates.

Short term:

  • Select and prioritize preferred dictionaries (monolingual and bilingual)
  • Lookup within definitions
  • Lookup from virtual keyboard
  • History management

In parallel:

  • Finalized dictionaries
  • More dictionaries
  • Tool to build your own dictionaries

Thanks again to all our great beta testers for their very valuable feedback.

Happy reading,

Bookeen Team

Update 6 december 2012: For those of you looking for a specific dictionary, take a look at this free tool created by a clever Cybook user which allows you to convert any StarDict or XML format dictionary for your Cybook. Thank you, Pettarin! I thought I would put the links directly in the articles for easier reference.

Ebook Bundle: Corrected file for “Der Freigeist”

Friday, February 17th, 2012

A sharp-eyed reader alerted us that there was a problem with the formatting in one of the free books provided in our ebook bundles, “Der Freigeist” by Gotthold Lessing.

We’ve corrected the file and we’re happy to provide it here, download it by clicking on the link below. To read the book, just edit the file name to remove the .zip extension, so the file ends in “.epub”, before loading it on your Cybook.

Thanks very much to the Bookeener who let us know about this so we could correct it.

Happy reading,

Bookeen Team

Cybook Parade contest: The Return

Monday, February 13th, 2012

The Cybook Odyssey certainly does get around, it’s the least we can say, and we’ve been consumed by curiosity to discover what they’ve been getting up to since we’ve been sending them out into the wide world!

So, we thought to ourselves, “Let’s have another Cybook Parade, special Odyssey edition!”

How it works: you’re out and about with your Cybook. You take a photo of it, wherever you are, wherever you like to read… in your comfy chair, in your garden, in the café, in the park, in the subway, at the beach, on holiday…

The photos will be posted in our facebook album “Cybook Parade”; you can upload them directly to our page, or email them to communityATbookeenDOTcom; please mention “Cybook Parade” in the subject line.

We welcome photos of all Cybooks but this time the focus will be on the Cybook Odyssey, the newest member of the family!

The best photos will win a prize! If your photo is selected, you’ll win a cover or other accessory for your Cybook. The winners will be announced on our blog, every 2 weeks for the duration of the contest (one month).

The small print: by sending us your photo, you agree that we can post it on facebook and / or on our website / in articles about Bookeen.

Good luck everyone!

The Bookeen Team
